Fowler House
This stately historic white-columned brick house was built in 1926 in Marietta, GA and served as residence to the prominent Fowler family until the 1960s when it was converted into office space for Peoples Financial. It was sold in 2018, and although the structure was still in sound shape, it was sadly demolished in 2019 in order to make way for a deli and other small businesses.
On the bright side, subsequent to obtaining permission from the developer, Cobb Landmarks Preservation Committee contacted Marietta Reclamation, and we partnered together in order to preserve the historical materials from the house.
MR dismantled the house over the course of several weeks, and many of the pieces were used in Cobb Landmarks’s new headquarters. The rest of the salvageable elements were left in the hands of Marietta Reclamation to be sourced for a new life.
Exterior
The taking out of windows, shutters, doors and sidelights was easy in comparison to the front porch pediment and columns, which were the most tedious part of this job.
Interior
Dismantling the interior of the house was bitter sweet, as much of the interior was still in such good condition.
Scroll through below to see some of fabulous pieces we brought back, including pedestal sinks, walnut doors and paneling, mantles and firebox inserts, and the beautiful Gothic window as well as the entire front and side entry units.
